A group of students from east London had a trip to remember after enjoying two weeks in China and learning about Chinese culture and life.
16 students from the Attlee A Level Academy in Stepney, participated in a summer school programme coordinated by New City College with a Chinese partner, the Shandong Foreign Languages Vocational College.
During the two-week trip, the students and their teachers enjoyed a daily itinerary of activities and cultural excursions designed to offer the students an in-depth immersion to Chinese culture.
This included activities where they learnt Mandarin, Chinese pottery and cooking classes, tea ceremonies as well as learning about Chinese music.
There was also time for participating in Chinese sports including kung-fu and touring the region of Shandong, which included visits to the mountains and the coast.
Richard Surtees, Director of International Studies at New City College said:
The students have described the trip as the best two weeks of their lives and we can't thank our hosts enough for making everybody so welcome. The feedback has been so positive and we hope to run the trip again next year.
Shandong Vocational College is located in the city of Rizhao in the Shandong province of north-east China.
